Why Travel with Us

Day 1:  Machame Gate – Machame Camp (1800m – 3100m, 4-5 hrs)

After breakfast we leave for Machame gate. We now leave the park gate and walk through the rain forest on a winding trail up a ridge. Lower down can be muddy and slippery and Gaiters and trekking poles are a good idea here. We continue a short distance until we reach Machame camp where we will spend our first night.

Day 2:  Machame Camp – Shira Camp (4-5hrs, 3800m)

After breakfast, we leave the glades of the rainforest and continue on an ascending path, crossing the little valley, walking along a steep rocky ridge covered with Heather vegetation until the ridge ends.

Dinner and overnight will be at Shira camp.

Day 3:  Shira Plateau – Barranco Valley Camp (4-5hrs, 3950m)

From the Shira plateau we continue to the East up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. As we continue, our direction changes to the South East towards the Lava Tower. Shortly after the tower, we come to the second junction which brings us up to Arrow Glacier for acclimatization.

Later we will descend to Barranco campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 4:  Barranco – Barafu Camp (4-5hrs, 4600m)

After breakfast we scramble the Great Barranco wall to Barafu camp. In the evening we will hike to Cossovo point (4800m) to acclimatize.

Dinner and overnight at Barafu camp.

Day 5:  Barafu – Uhuru Peak – Barafu – Mweka Camp

Midnight wake up for a light breakfast before climbing to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro via Stella point(5685m), we will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise we are ever likely to see on Earth (weather permitting).

From Stella point is about 1hr to Uhuru peak – the highest point (5895m) on Kilimanjaro and the highest free-standing mountain on the planet. After taking your memorable pictures you will descend to Barafu camp for a short break and lunch before having another descent to Mweka camp (3100m) for dinner and overnight.

Day 6:  Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate

Today we complete our Kilimanjaro climb.

We are met at the base of Kilimanjaro, awarded with certificate before driving to your hotel for dinner party and overnight.
